We Are What We Are
Orion's Room could be the next band signed in Denver, Colorado. View footage of the world wide webcast from Herman's Hideaway, November, 2004 and see why. Orion's Room has some serious talent.
Orion's Room
Formed in 2001, Orion’s Room are brothers Jake Holthus (guitarist/songwriter), Jon Holthus (drums), and Dave Holthus (saxophonist) — bassist Jeff Garbarino, violinist/violist Laura Darling and vocalist Lance Gilloth.

Combining the seemingly opposing musical sensibilities of pop/rock with traditional aspects of Celtic folk music and tribal world beats, Orion’s Room has played hundreds shows across the West and Midwest, headlining such local venues as the Gothic Theater, the Paramount and the Fox.

In June 2004 Orion’s Room released their second live album, Storyboard, which comes on the heels of the success of their debut live album, The Development and the EP, Peppermint Sleeves. While Storyboard is a collection of intense, tribally-influenced pop rock cuts and favors the raw, emotional appeal of world rock, the album’s other highlights include the more straight-ahead pop grooves of “We Are What We Are” and “Skeleton,” as well as a singularly original rendition of Rusted Root’s biggest commercial success, “Send Me on My Way.” No stranger to associations with Rusted Root, Gilloth’s voice has often been equated with frontman Michael Glabicki’s, as noted in the February 13th, 2004 issue of The Onion magazine:

Singer Lance Gilloth of Denver's Orion's Room has a voice that often sounds eerily like that of Rusted Root's Michael Glabicki, down to the sundry vocal tics and curious pronunciations of certain words… the band has opened for Glabicki, sights Rusted Root as an influence, and even occasionally covers a Rusted Root tune… Orion's Room has a polished, densely-layered sound… as it emerges from the shadows of its overt influences, it should be able to expand its following.
Herman's Hideaway
Herman's Hideaway started booking musical acts back in 1982. They are credited with boosting the start of such bands as Big Head Todd & the Monsters, the subdudes, and many others. Herman's has established themselves as the premiere nightclub in Denver for new bands on their way to the top. You're always guaranteed a good band will be playing whenever you come to Herman's.
