Featuring the four-piece rhythm section of Jon Piazza (vocals/keyboards), Mike Rodholm (guitar), Kyle Crystal (bass), Jim Fierro (drums), and highlighted by a horn section led by Downbeat magazine’s 2002 poll-winner for “Outstanding Performance by a Jazz Instrumental Soloist” - Jake Sanders a/k/a ‘Skinny Tallz’ (vocals/baritone sax), Mike Chiesa (tenor sax), Matt King (alto sax), Steve Jones (trumpet) -Chronophonic has the distinctly unique ability to morph elements of funk, jazz, and hip-hop into a distinct sonic creation. Citing Influences ranging from James Brown to Radiohead, The Roots to Primus, Chronophonic echoes the musical ambition of Frank Zappa married to the groove of Parliament Funkadelic.

Chronophonic’s eponymous 2003 debut CD charted on six radio stations and received airplay in more than 26 states. The disc features Denver’s own internationally-renowned jazz trumpeter Ron Miles (Bill Frisell Quartet, Denver Jazz Quartet w/Ginger Baker and James Carter, DJ Logic), who also sometimes joins the group for live performances.

The group’s sophomore CD, Footwork, released in February 2004 was produced by Kevin Clock (Stevie Ray Vaughn, Gladys Knight, YES) and mastered by Tom Baker (B.B. King,The Beastie Boys, Stone Temple Pilots). The album has charted in sixteen states and is on the playlist at over 130 radio stations.

Performing all along Colorado’s Front-Range, the band has an active touring schedule of over 75 gigs a year. The Denver-based group has already been privileged to share the stage with such national talent as, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Vinyl, The Motet, Granola Funk Express, and Yo’ Flaco.
