As the former creative force behind both Denver’s The Jonez and Judge Roughneck, Byron Shaw is a veteran of the local music scene charting a new musical course. In its review of Shaw’s debut 2004 release, Feed Your Soul, local weekly Westword magazine notes:
No punk-funk or third-generation ska retreads here. Instead, instrumentalists like keyboard specialist Chad Aman, clavinetist Geoff Cleveland and trombonist Gary Mallory create gently jazzy, casually engaging rhythms and melodies. Shaw joins in with bongos and laid-back singing that entwines with the sinuous warbling of Melinda Dickson and Elizabeth Rose, who was once with (another flashback) Sympathy F… an evocative, end-of-the-evening vibe that's mellow without seeming tired.

Herman's Hideaway started booking musical acts back in 1982. They are credited with boosting the start of such bands as Big Head Todd & the Monsters, the subdudes, and many others. Herman's has established themselves as the premiere nightclub in Denver for new bands on their way to the top. You're always guaranteed a good band will be playing whenever you come to Herman's.
