Kelli*Said
The history of Denver-based modern rock band Kelli*Said began in January 2001, when Kelli Wolf (vocals) and Keith Swami (guitar/programmer) began collaborating on the songs that would eventually become the debut twelve-song CD, Ear Candy. Joined by George “G” Terry (bass) and Bill “Dazz Dassler (drums), to officially form the current line-up of Kelli*Said, the group’s philosophy remains both straightforward and classically simple: Don’t worry about ‘success’ or ‘failure’ in the music business, simply write and perform material that is sincere, passionate and emotionally real.
Born in Phoenix Arizona, Kelli lists early her musical influences as ranging from The Beatles to Concrete Blonde. Later, Duran Duran and Blondie became her passions and the influence of the latter (along with Gwen Stefani) can be sensed in certain aspects of Wolf’s appealing onstage persona.
In 1990 Wolf relocated to Colorado for college. Meeting Swami the same year, she first became involved in local music when she began to support his band at that time, The Hands of God. Since the duo formed Kelli*Said, Wolf has gone on to become one of the most noticeable figures on the Denver scene — energetic, entertaining, and vocally talented, she radiates a passion and magnetism that defines the band.
Bill "Dazz" Dassler began playing the drums at age of thirteen. Bill attended Colorado Mountain College where he studied photography. He played in a variety of area bands including Silverado, The Metallics, The Press, and The Flesh Mannequins. Bill joined Kelli*Said in 2003.
George "G" Terry played in several local groups including Feedback, Risque, Citizen World, Cathouse, Kuru, Ear, Visitor Johnny and Image.
KELLI*SAID finished recording their second CD, THIS IS A DEMONSTRATION, in August 2003, and were busy performing throughout Summer and Fall of 2004 at Front range area venues, including, The Soiled Dove, Hermans Hideaway, the Gothic Theater, The Toad Tavern and the Oriental Theater. They are currently working on their third CD release, What?, which is slated for Spring 2005 release.
